Horehound Candy
This is a traditional herbal remedy for coughs and colds.
1 ounce dried horehound herb
1 ¾ pounds brown sugar
4 tablespoons corn syrup
1 ½ cup water
Cook horehound and water slowly for 30 minutes. Remove horehound. Add brown sugar and syrup, and cook to 300°F.
Pour into a well-greased pan. Mark into squares just as the mixture begins to harden.
